Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) provides information on a variety of issues surrounding museology, heritage issues, collection management software reviews and the like.
CHIN content
The new CHIN web site provides free access to a range of information and skills development resources designed for heritage professionals and volunteers.
CHIN's Professional Exchange is an online space for museum professionals and volunteers, promoting community engagement through the use of relevant technologies.
Their museology bibliography program BMUSE indexes a wide range of museology literature.
CHIN consists of the following departments:
- creating and managing digital content - web site development, digitisation project planning, best practices
- Intellectual property - licensing guidelines, protecting images, partnership agreements
- Collections management - software reviews, selection guidance
- Standards - metadata, vocabulary, cataloguing
- Artefacts Canada - database of over 2 million records and images from Canadian museum collections
- Reference library - bibliographies, library catalogues, surveys, reference databases
- BMUSE - a database of museology journal literature
- Centre for exhibition exchange - information on Canadian and international travelling exhibits
- Conservation - open access to the BCIN bibliographic database
