"This exhibition presents the heartfelt responses of 20 Palawa artists and cultural practitioners coming face-to-face with their cultural treasures for the very first time. It gives attention to the Palawa Ngini (the Old People) who made these treasures; who held them in their hands and who expertly sourced materials and created rikawa (kelp water carriers), rraka (spears), pila (waddies), liwuray (fire sticks), tirrina (string baskets), kanalaritja (necklaces), ninga and tuylini (canoes), and bone and stone implements of necessity; for everyday use."--Theresa Sainty. |
"Where possible palawa kani words have been used throughout this publication..."--Front pages. |
