Summary
This report presents a detailed recording of the Cave of Ghosts, an Aboriginal rock art site in the Grampians, Western Victoria. The study is one of a number being undertaken for the Victoria Archaeological Survey, as part of a project to record and make recommendations on the major rock art sites within the State. The work was conducted with the aid of a grant from the Australian Heritage Commission (Grant No. 702).::To date 71 rock art sites have been recorded in Victoria (see Gunn 1981a) and of these only 13 have been described in any detail (see Coutts & Lorblanchet 1982, Gunn in prep a). Because of their rarity, each art site is particularly valuable and, as all are deteriorating, it is important that great care be exercised in the continuing management of these significant relics of our Aboriginal Heritage.
